As-salamu alaykum, my name is Ibrahim, a new converted Muslim. My lifelong pursuit has always been focused around truth, justice, justification, and insightful explanations. My character has been shaped like ivy, growing persistently against a crumbling wall. This is the type of wall that stands tall for centuries, yet remains untouched. Most people—friends, colleagues, my dentist, and family—are all connected like tiny roots embedded in the cement of a foundation that has evolved over time, which we call life. As the years went by, familiar phrases like \"it is what it is,\" \"just keep walking,\" and \"everything will be fine\" began to evoke a strong aversion within me. Five years ago, I embarked on a quest to find a simple, meaningful explanation that could fill the void of my disbelief, doing so without the guidance of teachers, clubs, friends, or psychologists. Many books containing knowledge are relatively easy to read. However, it was the questioning of those around me that made my discoveries seem implausible, strange, or even remarkable. One of the first significant lessons I learned came from a diverse array of books—some well-known and others obscure. I came to understand that, for my personal growth and to cultivate spiritual and mental strength, I needed to internalize my discoveries. Remaining engaged in the social battleground, where others are convinced that their opinions represent absolute truth, results in a waste of precious energy and time. In my surroundings, it became apparent that people were reluctant to commit to any beliefs or convictions, all in the name of \"freedom.\" If there is one thing that can bind you, it's the belief that perpetual searching and collecting snippets of knowledge from various sources will lead to happiness or wisdom. I distanced myself from a group of individuals who had casually read a book on Buddhism or criticized specific church beliefs without fully appreciating their depth. Mastering the art of silence while delving deep into my interests, transitioning from searching to learning, has left me feeling like an outsider in conversations, even within society. My perception of others has transformed. It became evident how easily individuals accept online articles as facts, while popular books, often written for profit, only influence their lives momentarily before shifting their focus to yet another guru. Social gatherings ceased to exist without the mention of Facebook, and significant moments became mere data points, stripped of their personal essence. The sheer scale of these data centers necessitates their proximity to large bodies of water to cool the massive amounts of memory storage that should belong within us but have turned into the legal property of tech giants. Have you ever stopped to consider that our memories, once sold, contribute to the storm of global warming? This journey—from immersing myself in the thoughts of Seneca, Aurelius,Asclepius, and Trismegistus, among countless others—has awakened a profound consciousness within me. Five years have elapsed, and I have realized that no one can sever my roots for me to escape that wall; it is my responsibility to cut them myself to encourage new growth in richer soil, nourished by sunlight and rain. I seek an intelligent mindful yet soft spoken partner to build on a future with, in daily life I am a jewelery designer, meaning. I design and make glass beads of most Italian glass, am pearl grader, yet do most with the trade of glass beads that brings me in various places around the globe. Don't get me wrong, I run a small studio and I love it. I am a vivid reader, most philosophical and...... well, philosophy. I love to cook, eat and dine. With the luck I work for myself I am able to pray most if the prayers a day. Next to that I love to study, and have a study room, that is slowly transferring from novels and collected antique books, to Muslim Hadith writers, imams and many more. Being5 0 I had my share of trouble in life, which I am thankfully for cause it directed me in this direction. Now it's time to slow down, after years of running own companies that absorbed my time. The time remaining, I wish to study the Quran deeper with a soulmate muslima. I prefer if she would wear the hijab. I've got a strong personality, but I don't bite, so. Drop a story. I'm waiting. Ibrahim “Putting things off is the biggest waste of life: it snatches away every day as it comes, and denies us the present by promising the future. The greatest obstacle to living is expectancy, which depends upon tomorrow, and loses today. You are arranging what lies in Fortune's control, and abandoning what lies in yours. What are you looking at? To what purpose are you training? The whole future lies in uncertainty: live immediately." myjourneyinislam.com
