I have a passion for Arabic, I completed my Masters in Arabic Linguistics and have been teaching Arabic for over 20 years, most recently through my website. When teaching Arabic I fully come alive and get into flow, and it is my dream to make it accessible knowledge so people can witness for themselves the beauty of the linguistic miracle of the Quran. I have put the teaching on hold for the past few years as I have been homeschooling my children (two girls age 13 and 8, and a 3 year old boy), but now they are a little older I have been working on reestablishing the online course. I would love to meet someone who is as excited about the Arabic as I am, even if they don't know any yet but want to learn (yes, I'm offering to teach you!) I am trying to raise my children to take life in their stride, and we love to be goofy and silly together ALOT, but it is essential that Islam comes at the centre of it all, both in spirit and in practice and we are all working towards Hifdh together. I am a free-spirited, laissez-faire "hippie" at heart, (but always within the dictates of the deen). I love being at one with nature and animals, and prefer to do things in a way that seems right to me rather in the way they "should" be done as dictated by society. I love to travel and spend extended periods of time in countries to truly experience their different cultures; throughout my life I have lived in Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Egypt, India , Malaysia, Qatar and rural Zambia. Most recently I took the kids on a 2000km road trip around Bosnia, and I would love to travel more and be able to show my children that the world is more expansive than the little bubble in which we live. I am a true INFP. I am a creative, spontaneous, very easy-going and optimistic person. I am very light-hearted and jolly, love to joke and laugh (sometimes too much), and I'm forever reluctant (admittedly, to a fault) to take off my rose-coloured glasses. I value kindness, gentleness and good manners; I absolutely hate any form of bad language, rudeness and swearing. I am very friendly, affectionate and warm, and am happy to try to converse with almost anyone.
